01Project description

Our project aims to develop the design and production technology of H-PERC hybrid silicon cells with a photoconversion efficiency of at least 22% and a low cost of production, similar to the price of standard PERC cells with an efficiency of 20%. The key innovation in the project is a process innovation related to the development of low-cost, low-energy and non-toxic technology for the production of PV cells. A complementary innovation is the unique design of the H-PERC cell.

The development of the H-PERC cell manufacturing technology is associated with compatibility with the existing machine parks, i.e., the assembly line of photovoltaic modules in SmartWire Connection Technology, thanks to which prototype photovoltaic modules consisting of H-PERC cells assembled using the above-mentioned technology will be created, as well as, building a pilot line for the production of H-PERC cells, which will be used for their experimental prototyping and demonstration of the technology itself.
The planned efficiency of the modules will amount to 20.9%, which corresponds to the peak power of 327.75 W.
The results of the project will be implemented in the economic activity of one of the largest producers in this sector, which will build a serial manufacturing line for H-PERC cells on the basis of a pilot line and will offer photovoltaic modules based directly on them.

The target group is, among others, global corporations distributing photovoltaic modules in the European and the North American market, module installers implementing investments in Poland and Europe, industry investors implementing investments in photovoltaic farms and private investors implementing investments in distributed photovoltaic installations.

The results of the project will contribute to the achievement of economic, social and environmental benefits (in accordance with the principle of sustainable development) resulting from the production of cleaner energy.
The results of the project will be conducive to the implementation of the EU climate and energy policy, which set goals until 2020: reduction of greenhouse, gas emissions by 20% compared to 1990; 20% shares of energy from renewable sources; 20% savings in energy consumption compared to the forecasts. This will affect the reduction of energy from traditional energy sources in favour of renewable sources However, a significant limitation in the use of renewable energy sources is still the unaffordable price-performance ratio. The proposed project, through the use of a unique cell manufacturing concept, will increase the efficiency of energy production devices while reducing their price at the same time.

The result of the project will be the production technology and construction of a new H-PERC cell and a photovoltaic module made with its use. Currently offered photovoltaic modules with a capacity of 290 W (based on PERC silicon monocrystalline cells), as a result of the project execution, can be replaced with modules with a power of 327.75 W. According to the instructions, the indicator should be achieved by the end of the project.
